Tailgating season is upon us! Since football season is slowly creeping around the corner here in the South, it’s time to start prepping those tailgating #OOTDs! This month’s Splurge or Steal in Austin Woman Magazineis all about having the best tailgating outfit that can withstand the ridiculous Texas weather. I’ve created two looks that will get you through day to night whether you plan on trying to tailgate in the stadium parking lot or at a friend’s house. Coming from someone born and raised in Texas, it’s usually the best choice to opt for layers. I’ve always been a huge fan of jean shorts, tank tops and comfy yet chic shoes, especially if the game starts during the heat of the day. The two looks I feature are nearly identical so whether you want to splurge or save, there’s something for every budget.

Let’s start with the splurge look. Both of these outfits are so similar it’s honestly hard to differentiate which is the splurge and which is the steal. Even if you have an eye for designer pieces this one is tough besides spotting the Gucci belt. If you really want to start analyzing each item of clothing you’ll be able to tell but from a distance they are identical, for the most part. Most of y’all already know that I live in these CamiNYC tops. These are pieces I would 100% splurge on because they are silk and absolutely stunning. If anyone else is a cashmere snob like me you’ll be splurging on a nice, cashmere cardigan! Most of the splurge pieces I found will last you season after season. No matter how similar they are to the steal, these will last you much longer.

If you love the splurge look but don’t want to spend almost $2,300 the steal look is literally the next best thing. I’m not even joking. Like I said above, the pieces of clothing are nearly identical. You will be the only one able to tell the difference since you know that you saved thousands of dollars. A couple of years ago the CamiNYCtop was the only lace front top on the market. WayF came out with a similar option for a fraction of the price. The only difference is that the $55 option isn’t silk.
Another thing I want to note on is the fact that stadiums are now requiring see-through bags. As I was prepping for this job I realized there are hardly any attractive clear bag options unless you want to pay a fortune. Even the Kelly Wynne bag in the splurge look is still pretty affordable. Honestly, I like that bag the best over the steal clear bag. I personally love the steal shorts I am wearing better too. If you haven’t noticed from most of my posts, I love short shorts. These BlankNYC‘s were the perfect length; not too short but not too long. They will even be perfect for other casual looks.
These Steve Madden wedges are another favorite of mine. I am actually torn on which shoe I prefer out of these two tailgating looks. I have owned the Stuart Weitzman wedges for years. They are the best $400 I have spent on a pair of shoes. I still wear them constantly and sadly, they don’t make them anymore! I just found these Steve Madden‘s on the Zappos website recently. Surprisingly, I love both of these shoes equally but know the Steve Madden wedges won’t last as long as the Stuart Weitzman.
Last but not least, splurge on the Gucci belt.

With tailgating season within the next month and a half, start looking for what you are wanting to wear before it’s too late! Don’t forget that most stadiums are strict on wearing a clear bag. Make that is a top priority or you might get turned away. If you’re not one that likes wearing their team’s colors or jerseys, opt for a more classic and casual option that can be worn other places that game day.
